The
Journey Event - Continuing the Conversation took
place on Saturday 7 March 2009
The second
Journey event
saw us gather at the Arrow Valley Countryside
Centre, Redditch to share and discuss with one
another our not so different journeys of being
church in today's culture.
Ed and Ali
joined us from B1 church in Birmingham. Ed
shared the development of this Fresh Expressions
church and it was good to have an Anglican
perspective in the conversation.

Dave from
Hillfields in Coventry shared their story - one
of a radically changing church culture in the
midst of a multi ethnic community.
Andy from
Woodrow in Redditch gave an update on the
Welcome Centre and shared a short video of the
Christmas Fair that was held in the Woodrow
Community Shopping Centre last December.
I shared
from a personal perspective some insights from
my own journey. It was great to meet up
with everyone and to hear their stories, but
what struck me most was the tremendous
challenges we face, as followers of Jesus, to
live out our faith in diverse and challenging
circumstances. We need each other; we need
church, whatever form or shape it takes.

It was also
clear that we all have a heart for mission and
are wrestling with how we carry that out in the
communities God has placed us in. This
came out in a video we watched by Mark Green.
Mark talked about the need to reach the UK but
first addressed the issues that churches need to
tackle to equip Christians to relate their faith
to those around them in everyday life.
Seems this journey is taking a decidedly
missional turn.
