The Conversation
Prayer is a
conversation with God flowing from our relationship with him. We are
called to "pray without ceasing": - a continuous, open-ended conversation with
God in our everyday lives; an ongoing awareness of his presence: listening,
speaking, sensing.
Prayer is a
Rhythm of our life together. Our prayer priorities include:
|
Ø |
Listening - developing an awareness of God
speaking to us in our daily lives |
|
Ø |
Giving Thanks -
recognising God's grace and favour and
developing a grateful attitude of heart |
|
Ø |
Praying for Others - praying for
each other, our Local Community, our Nation and
Global issues |

onto the Streets
of Redditch

Steps of Faith Towards
Community Transformation
BACKGROUND
Prayer walking has been part of our Christian heritage
for centuries. From pilgrimages, to the ancient
tradition of “beating the bounds”, to the more recent
“March for Jesus”. Many Christians have prayed for
their towns, villages and nations on foot.
Today God seems to be stirring His people to prayer with
many new initiatives, such as 24-7 prayer, Prayer week
and the Global Day of Prayer amongst many others.
Our community
We at Kairos want to contribute to
praying for our community. We prayer walk the
community of Church Hill where the majority of us
live. We want to invite other Christians to join with
us or to join with others in prayer walking the
communities they live in. We have a vision to see the
whole of Redditch being prayer walked by Christians,
walking, working and praying together.
Reaching
out
Whilst we readily acknowledge this is
only one aspect of prayer and there needs to be other
strategies, we feel it is important to take prayer
beyond the four walls of our churches and into our
communities.
Aims
|
Ø |
To pray for the people of our community to
come to faith and discover the love of God in Jesus for
themselves
|
|
Ø |
To pray into any issues our community faces,
eg vandalism, unemployment |
|
Ø |
To pray for focal points of the community, eg
schools, shops, workplaces |
|
Ø |
To pray for the values our community holds –
for care and compassion within the community |
|
Ø |
To pray for local churches, their witness and
work within the community |
These are guidelines, however as we
prayer walk we want to be open to the Holy Spirit, to
His prompting and leading in more specific ways.
GUIDELINEs
|
Ø |
Research
– get to know your community, what’s
happening, its history, any particular issues |
|

open to the Holy Spirit |
|

Pray for Redditch
The Pray for Redditch web site is a resource
for those who wish to pray more effectively for
the town. It is a source of information
with suggested prayer topics and information on
prayer events. The motto displayed
on the town's Coat of Arms is "Reddite-Deo" -
